How To Make Your Apps Clean Themselves

Look at the Facebook app; does this happen often? I've been using iOS since version 1.1.1 and I've never seen this. How long does it usually take? I cannot open the app.

Its a new feature introduced with iOS 5. Apple gave developers the option to clean their application's caches to save space in backups and such.
Interesting...never read about that new feature - thanks!

I've seen this a couple times... Just thought it was a glitch at first. But that's pretty cool that the app is able to clean itself.

Yes, jailbreak only. It's called, unsurprisingly, "Five Icon Dock." There is also a "Five Icon Switcher."

This is interesting about the "Cleaning..." message. When I recently went to China, funny that this operation happened the following Apps:
1) Twitter
2) USA Today
3) BBC News
4) Flickr

The same thing happened to my iPod recently. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but it could not have been longer than 5 to 10 minutes per app. (That is just an estimate because I put it in sleep mode for a while after I noticed it. I checked about 10 minutes later and it was finished.)
